The first 2 Weeks @ Del Val College by an old Lady

1. I am making a blog that might ring true for someone else in cyperspace someday. I am 48 year old and just completed the first 2 weeks @ Del. Val College in Bucks County. Working a full 100+ hours out of state at night the first 10 days of the month and reposting to Del Val at 0730 hours is amazing. JC
2. This College Rocks. Excellent teachers. Kind staff members, Cool, highly intellegent kids, and just WOW (Wild OberservationsWonderful) Learning a mile a day. Was asked not to call Dr. Rubin Ma'am. I am used to calling respected people Sir and Ma'am but5 I will do as I am told. I wouldn't want to change a thing about this school. Great Food, beautiful campus. Excellent gym. Does anyboday want to see the Marine Corps workout for adults over 45? Find me and ask me for my cell # and we will sweat together. It is best to use the "LSD" method of getting in shape. It means Long Slow Distance. Each person here does it when they walk to classes between sections. Love this place :) JC

  1. Hi anyone interested. I am back and trying to figure out why I have so much computer literacy to learn in an English 201 class. As a non-techie adult, I don't mind using word but don't want a facebook account or live journal. I'm very old fashioned and actually have to keep a journal for her- this seems redundant. I just want to learn the mechanics of writing and not fool around with blogging or facebook or live journal. Anybody agree?

  2. I love Del Val too. I feel so lucky teaching at such a beautiful countrified place!

I take class at West Chester, and man, do I feel your pain! I teach four classes and take two, plus I wait tables on the weekends. It's what we have to do to get by right now, I guess.

Back in undergrad, my Spanish IV teacher said to me: "Do what you can do with the time you have." I try to tell myself that every day. It's such good advice! Never forgot it!

  3. School is going really well. I am trying to make friends with the security people but the directer is a hard butt ex cop with a chip on his shoulder for Woman Marines. he actually wanted to call my CO. Some people don't believe anyone but still accept free doughnuts and Rita Water Ice coupons. At least he is a Phillies fan. Mr. Lee gave me extra time so that I can catch up in his class and tomorrow night I will take the practice proficiency test. I pray I can get good grades and people in church are praying too. I love this place with all of the beautiful plants and flowers and trees. It is so ice to be somewhere where the people are creative and funny and all trying to learn instead of "knowing it all" and bossing me around. I get tired of always being in trouble and assumptions being made about me. I love people and try to share smiles when I'm not too stressed out or in pain. Today was so beautful, my horses are wooley and I have a bunch of Himi kittens registered with the CFA if anyone wants one. I am also giving away some free Tennessee Walking horses so I have more time to study and they can get more attention. Living each day like it is my last has me having fun and I am grateful people are patient with me as I limp around campus. Hope everyone has a nice weekend.:)

  5. I have had a crazy first 10 days in October. I started duty early on the East coast and still made all of my classes but am not testing well in biology yet. Love Del Val and the people there but with my job, farm, church and family ( needy folks) I'm still overbooked. Now that it is after the 10th things will slow down again and I just know I'll be alright. We all have to pray for our troops- I am losing friends daily...it is hard to take right now but It's OK.....Bye For Now

  6. Hello Blogg and Blpggers,
October is almost over and I am now finishing up my assignments forr my classes this week. I have 2 IT tests and one Psy Project due in the nest two days. I have been with my huge extended family who come to Pa from all parts of the world to be at my Son's wedding. Over 300 people in all walks ov life got together and had a really good time. My advise to the happy couple was to never go to bed mad, never lie to each other but temper truth with tact and never forget the feeling you had when you said "I Do". Once they have kids it gets stressful and expensive. The love they have for each other is a beautiful thing and I really hope they beat the odds of 60% divorce rate. They are both wise, smart and not at all lazy. I really think they will make it. Good Bye For Now

  7. Back again in November. The year has really flown by. I take a Bio test today and really like that class. Have been learning to live alone and really like it. This farm is my fortress of solitude. Just have to be really careful not to isolate. I go back on duty on the first of the month and am finally feeling like myself. For almost 10 days I was taking 13-16 hours of sleep and a little too out of it after doing swing shifts. I am now back on farmer time. The semester is almost over and I want to make Bio my Major but also know I can get out of school sooner if I just go for Business. I do really well in Business but love the Bio thing. My puppies are growing up fast. One is my friend Leut. Brian's Caine Corso pup named Carl and my new partner a Dogge De Bordeau Pumpkin or Amber. It is time to take the Bio test so good bye for now.:)
